Insurance loss control or risk management job in Colorado?

Jan 14, 2009 by David S | Posted in Insurance |

I'd like to get an insurance loss control or risk management job in Colorado. I have a degree in occupational, health and safety and have a number of certifications. I would like to get a job with and insurance company or independent company that provides loss control/ risk management services. I've been looking online at the standard job boards (monster.com, hotjobs.com, careerbuilder.com) with out much luck. Anybody have any other ideas?

Health insurance can be very tricky. Since I live in Minnesota I'm not familiar with the Colorado laws and regulations, so I suggest you call a local insurance agent. http://www.americaschoicetoday.com/Health-Insurance.html They will be able to help you.

You'll have to start mailing your resume out . . .but most loss control and risk managers, that I've ever known, start out in underwriting, and work their way up.

To obtain a doctorate in Credit Risk Management from any Universities through distant learning.?

Jul 16, 2006 by Ramachandran M | Posted in Other - Business & Finance |

This subject is relevant to Financial Control on the retail and wholesale segments of finance industry. You can sugest a simple procedure to obtain a Doctorate in Credit Risk Management Services.I do not have sufficient time to write exhaustive Thesis on this subject. I have 15 years of service with the Finance Industry.

To get a Doctorate, you need to have patience, dedication and above all time. Since you already have 15 years of exp and well settled (I presume), apply for a teaching job at the relevant university and simultaneoulsy do your Ph.D. Your industry exp will be a boon for your students.

If you don't have time to write a dissertation, you're not going to get a doctorate...or at least a valid doctorate. Try to avoid those online universities that grant degrees based on life experience. They're all worthless.

I am doing a university degree in business where my major is risk management and insurance and my minor?

Mar 22, 2008 by cass | Posted in Insurance |

is financial services. When i recieve my degree what kind of salary would be looking to be on?? Also is there any exciting jobs i can do with this degree?

It depends on your area, but mostly you should go for a position in Commercial Underwriting. That will get your foot in the door for other oppurtunities and you should make good money. Most major insurance companies have training programs, again depending on your area.

You need to be able to write in grammatical, correctly spelled English or your application for any job will go straight into the bin. Your degree will not qualify you for any specific job.You should look in newspapers like the Times, the Guardian or the Independent to see what jobs/ trainee-ships are being offered and at what salaries. The areas where your degree might be useful are insurance, accountancy (although you would need to qualify as an accountant) or general management.

Which exam is better for me? Actuary? Treasury? Risk Management or Statistical?

Nov 20, 2006 by Sandy | Posted in Financial Services |

There are lots of professional exams to take nowadays, but I'm not sure which one will fit me the best. Hope people who are in these professions can give me advice. I am an Economics, 2.2 (just 1 mark below the 2.1 boundary) graduate with 1.5 years working experience in a data input/administrative role in banks, plus 0.5 year in data research/reporting role in a security firm. I want to develop my career in financial services/insurance/accounting/ banking industry. I enjoy doing calculations, data analysis and reporting. I am a fast learner and inquisitive with a logical mind. I also like to investigate into things when necessary and would like a job that may affect some management decision to a better degree with my knowledge and intelligence. I really want to do an exam that will lead me to a career I'll enjoy to do in the future. I'm good at mathematics and ratio/company analysis in accounting.

Have you thought about doing an aptitude test? Ask your HR department if they can arrange one for you. I am sure, if you tell them you want to advance your career prospects, they will be delighted to help

You should probably look into the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). This helps lead to roles in financial, portfolio, and investment analysis and is beneficial in investment banking. Deals alot with financial statement analysis.

The CFA will take anywhere between 2 1/2 to 3 years to complete. It is compromised of 3 tests and each test requires at least 200 hours worth of study. It is alot of work but very beneficial in the financial industry.

I work in Financial Services, and have done for 17 years now... I don't think you'd qualify for the actuarial exams with a 2:2 - sorry - they tend to be super-bright with usually a first or upper 2:1 in maths etc. What about becoming a Business Analyst with an Insurance Company? Many insurance companies have what they call a "Business Model Office" function, which works on how the company fits together to provide services, and analyses what's needed, whether from a business risk, financial, IT or any other perspective. They do many of the things you like and are good at. I'm not sure which professional exam (if any) that they do - I think you'd be best off getting in there, and getting work experience rather than following the professional exam route. Best of luck!

Try the Association of Country treasurers professional exams, takes about two years to get AMCT. very expensive though. You may be better off trying to get an accounting qualification (four years, recommend ACCA or ACA for you purposes) the doing the fast track ACT exams (one exam sitting).

Not sure about CFA in the UK, but worth researching..

Bank Management & Financial Services?

Mar 23, 2009 by Farasha 82 | Posted in Financial Services |

An analysis of the UBPR reports on NCB was presented in this chapter. We examined a wide variety of profitability measures for the bank, including ROA, ROE, net profit margin, net interest and operating margins, and asset utilization. However, the various measures of earnings risk, credit risk, solvency risk, liquidity risk, market risk, and interest rate risk were not discussed in detail. Using the data in tables 5-5 through 5-9, calculate each of the dimensions of risk for NCB for the most recent 2 years and discuss how the bank’s risk exposure appears to be changing over time. What steps would you recommend to management to deal with any risk exposure problems you observe?
send me your email add then i can send the tables.

Without giving the data in tables 5-5 through 5-9,How do you expect us to calculate ??
Please send particulars via Yahoo answers to me, so that i will try to suggest some solutions.
